Achtung! The U2 Studies Journal accepts new writings from academics, students, lay-scholars and fans. We currently accept and publish works written only in English. All submissions will be forwarded to members of the Editorial Board for review and comment. Submissions must not be previously published; if you are simultaneously submitting to other publications, we ask you notify us immediately if your submission is accepted elsewhere.
Typically, we do not consider or reply to submissions under 4000 words or over 8000 words, including endnotes and/or a bibliography. If you wish to submit something outside these parameters which you think merits special consideration, contact an editor with your query first, before submitting your work.
Submissions may employ any sound methodological and theoretical approach and should be written in clear U.S. English in a style accessible to the broadest possible audience. Authors should be sensitive to the social implications of language and choose wording free of discriminatory or exclusionary overtones. Submissions should be as double-spaced text in 12 pt. Times New Roman font, including all endnotes and the bibliography.
Achtung! The U2 Studies Journal follows the most current edition of The Chicago Manual of Style (Chicago: University of Chicago Press) for matters of punctuation, capitalization, hyphenation, documentation, formatting, and other matters of style. For documentation, we require endnotes and, if needed, a bibliography.
Submissions should be sent as a single Word document, with the first page of the document functioning as a title and author information page and the last page(s) including your endnotes and a bibliography. State on the first page of your document your name, institutional affiliation (if any), email address, and a biographical statement of 30-50 words. Your essay should begin on the second page of your document. By using Word’s endnote function, your endnotes should be on the last page(s) of your document, along with your bibliography (if appropriate). You should embed any images, figures or charts in your document when submitting your essay. Do not send these as separate attachments. Should your essay be accepted for publication, an editor will contact you to request separate files for any images, figures or charts. Authors are responsible for obtaining permissions for all copyrighted materials.
Submissions should be sent to submissions@U2journal.com. The subject line of your email should include the title of your work, like this: “Submission: Title of Your Work Here” and you should attach your single Word document to your email. The Editors receive manuscripts with the understanding that they have not been published previously. We request that the author confirm this fact in writing in the body of the email when making a submission. You will receive a confirmation reply in a timely fashion and then you will be notified of your acceptance status in a timely fashion based on our year-round reading schedule. Typically, you will be notified within 60 days of submission. If your submission is accepted for publication, the journal will retain electronic/serial rights and requests credit be given to the journal if the piece is subsequently published elsewhere. All other rights are retained by the author.
